As I sat down and pressed the “go live” button I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had an idea of what I wanted to accomplish, but would it pan out? There were some good moments and some really frustrating moments, but at the end of the day I sat down and created something.
Thursday on Studio FB Live, Episode 001, I continued working on a track currently titled “The Grind.” It’s an electro-blues track trying to tell the story of the ups and downs of life. The grind if you will. (more…)
Sometimes you have to try new things. To throw ideas against the wall and see what sticks. It’s been a while since my last post, but I’m excited about how I’m going to try and move this forward. I’m not totally sure where this is going or how it will pan out, but let’s go for it anyway.
Last week I tried FB live for the first time. My goal was to play a track from my upcoming album, but more than that it was to see if I could actually push the live button and go for it. I did it so I’ll take that as a success for now. The response to the track was overwhelming and I was blown away by all the comments, likes, and shares. (more…)
As I stepped into 2017 I made a commitment to myself that I was going to post a new track every week for the first two months of the year. It was time to create again. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do it, I just knew it was a challenge I needed to take on. Last week marked the end of my goal and I am excited to say I accomplished what I set out to do.
Many of you followed my journey over the past few weeks and I can’t say thank you enough for the encouragement and support you have given me. The emails, texts, comments, and conversations have left me speechless. I’m truly inspired by you. (more…)
You don’t have to be around very long to be confronted with the reality that life can (and will be) difficult. We all have struggles that set us back and haunt us longer than we would like to admit.
Over this past year, I have been really intentional about working on me. One of my main focuses was on my self-talk after I began to realize how hard I was on me. After listening to my own negativity I knew that I needed to do something about it.
I can’t really put into words what this track is all about. I had a few different emotions going on as I began to play, but I can’t pinpoint exactly what they were. That said, the only thing I can really do is paint the picture for you. (more…)
Have you ever had an experience where no matter what is happening around you, you still have joy? Not just having a good day because everything was working in your favor. I’m talking about pure, undeniable joy.
Last week I turned thirty-three. Although I understand this does not make me old, I can’t help but slightly cringe when I say the number out loud. When I was twenty, thirty was a lifetime away. Although in theory, it hasn’t been that long, it’s been a lifetime of living…or so it seems. (more…)
Sometimes I try to be really inspirational. To say things that make you think, all while inspiring you to move beyond yourself and into something new. Maybe I’m trying to be the musical version of Tony Robbins, I don’t know…
When I was recording this week’s track I felt inspired and did my best to record the ideas that reflected what I was feeling. I believe I did that pretty well, I’m just not really sure how to put it all into words. (more…)
Have you ever lost hope? Maybe in a situation, in a friend, or in life. When you find yourself in that position it is really difficult to will yourself from its grip. It sucks you in and holds you hostage, but all it takes is a spark, a simple single spark to bring you back.
This time of year is really hard on my positive outlook in life. The sun goes away for weeks at a time. The cold air cuts through me so quickly. Cabin fever sets in and all I can do is hope for spring to arrive. (more…)
Whenever I sit down to write a track it’s really easy for me to fall into a routine. To do something similar to what I’ve always done. It’s easier that way. I understand what I’m doing and it doesn’t take as much creativity to get my work accomplished. But what good comes from doing the same thing over and over again?
This week’s track is entitled A New Horizon, mainly because I liked the way it sounded, but also because of how I approached the track itself. Like I mentioned above, it’s really easy for me to fall into a routine and just “let it happen.” This week I wanted to try something different. (more…)
I learned something about myself this week. It’s something that I probably should have known, but I guess I never really paid attention to it. My brain is always on. Always dreaming, thinking, contemplating, creating. It will run at 100% all day long if I don’t consciously try to slow it down.
Last week the alarm went off and my brain went with it. I had a ton to get done so I didn’t really think about what I was thinking about. All day I went from place to place, meeting to meeting, all in an effort to accomplish my to-do list. (more…)
