Whenever I sit down to write a track it’s really easy for me to fall into a routine. To do something similar to what I’ve always done. It’s easier that way. I understand what I’m doing and it doesn’t take as much creativity to get my work accomplished. But what good comes from doing the same thing over and over again?
This week’s track is entitled A New Horizon, mainly because I liked the way it sounded, but also because of how I approached the track itself. Like I mentioned above, it’s really easy for me to fall into a routine and just “let it happen.” This week I wanted to try something different.
Trying Something Different
To stretch me a little bit I wanted this track to be a little more aggressive. I wanted to try new ways of playing the guitar that I haven’t before. I also tried new instruments that I’m not the best at playing, like the organ, all in an attempt to break new ground in my creativity.
It didn’t come easy or naturally, but it was fun to see what I could do with a fresh canvas.
As you listen maybe you will be encouraged to try something new within your creative element. To try something new that you have never done before. This will help you to avoid the creative trap of complacency. So…
What new thing will you try today? What part of your creative genius will you try and express? Don’t become complacent. Stale. Old.
It’s time for something new. It’s time for a new horizon.
