I am really excited about this weeks session! Not because of the music I created, but because I started the process of announcing the artists that will be joining me for the album release on November 3rd. This week we only talk about two of them, but I am beyond humbled that they decided to join me in this process.
During this weeks session, I introduced Erin Case and R.A. Buys, two amazing local artists that will be joining me on the 3rd. Be sure to check out their art and come see what they are creating for The Beginning. Here are their bios:
Ceramic Artist Erin Case finds inspiration through materials and design processes that are not traditionally associated with each other. Among her best-known pieces are experimental combinations between raw clay and pre-made objects. Her methods characteristically involve pattern to help illustrate the inner mechanisms of her mind. Case has a background in theatre and has produced artworks for South Bend Civic Theatre, in her hometown of South Bend, IN.
Erin Case explores themes of anxiety and depression. Her passion for ceramics began as a curiosity but later in life became a way to cope with family tragedies. In her early work she created mythological sculptures putting a face to her demons and admitting to the world that she had dark thoughts. Case currently is experimenting with the fragility of raw clay and how it relates to human emotions and other materials.
R.A. Buys was born and raised in California. He moved to Indianapolis in the mid-90s. After a life changing moment where he died for 3 minutes following a suicide attempt in 2006, he developed a new appreciation for life that led him to go back to school. He chose to study Fine Art which stemmed from a longtime passion for art and being creative.
He earned his Associate of General Fine Art at Ivy Tech Community College. Currently he is pursuing a Fine Art Degree in Sculpture at Herron School of Art and Design (IUPUI).
He loves to work with mixed media and found objects and is taking advantage of school to learn the basics of a variety of different mediums. Through painting, photography, performance art, video documentation and mixed media he is trying to show his own particular view of the world.
On the side, he is learning the process of art restoration and also volunteers’ his time with Regeneration Indy, an independent program that teaches art to youth.
Come join us on November 3rd at Fountain Square Brewery at 7:00.
