New Year Resolutions…a love-hate relationship. In years past, when crossing over into a new year I would set as many resolutions as I could. No matter how hard I tried I quickly became part of the 80% who quit them all before February. Last year I decided to try something different and chose a guiding word for the year. I was blown away by how this simple act did wonders for me all year long.
Last year I chose the word NEW. A simple word that I hoped would become an anthem for me. Man did it ever become one. So, as 2018 approached I knew that I needed to find a word that would really help define the fresh start in front of me. The more I thought about it, the more this particular word stuck out to me.
So in 2018 my word for the year is; BUILD. This is kinda scary because whenever you go to build something it involves a lot of hard work, as well as hurdles that need to be overcome. Although this is the case, I am excited to see what I can accomplish this year. Between what I want to do with my music, to how I can begin to build a life that I am proud, this year is going to be a fun challenge for me.
As you read this maybe that sounds like something you would want to do, let me encourage you to do it. It’s crazy how this simple act can shape a whole year of your life! So what are you waiting for? Let’s go!
This weeks session was a fun one as I decided to revisit an old idea that I had worked on in Session 019 but I just couldn’t land on anything that felt right. Not wanting to leave it alone I decided to pull it back out and I think I found something worth pursuing.
To get started I laid down a simple electric piano (EP) part to keep it together. From there I added the micro KORG part, then a pretty solid kick and snare part that makes my head bob. For inspiration, I looked to an artist named SOHN and his song called Red Line because I loved the chill electronic vibe.
As the end of this session I had the basic outline of the track down, now I just need to go back and add the rest of the instrumentation. I am really excited to see where this goes so stay tuned!
You are loved more than you could ever imagine and your voice is needed more than you know!
